Zoo Weekend

A few weeks ago we had a great weekend taking Cooper to the zoo in Houston. He loved to see the animals. There were a few animals that we didn't get to see becuase they were hiding in the bushes, but that's ok! He really like the elephants. We couldn't get him to look at the camera because he wanted to look at the elephants!

On Thursday, Cooper went to the dentist for the first time! That was an interesting experience. I wouldn't say he didn't cooperate, but I would say he did cooperate either. We practiced saying "aaaahhhhh" and opening our mouth for 2 days, but when it came time to do it...there was no "aaaahhhh" left in him! He just had to lay his head back and let the doctor look in his mouth. I hope it gets better when they actually have to do some work!
On Friday we had a mysterious fever that popped up, but he is doing much better now! When are all happier when the little man is feeling better!

I must say that this lion was amazing!

18 Months!

Cooper turned 18 months old yesterday! I can't believe it! He had his checkup at the doctor. She said he was doing good with his talking and was very impressed when he identified the "oval" bead on my necklace. He only had to get one shot and the tough little guy didn't even flinch! He was more mad that we were holding him down! He just looked at that nurse like she was mean and crazy for doing that to him, but other than that, it didn't really bother him.

He graduated up to a new class at Sunday school last week and he wasn't too happy about that. He cried when I left him and he cried when I picked him up. It was a new room with new teachers and his Grandpa wasn't in there with him. He'll do better next time!

He is doing great! He is learning more and talking more all the time. He has a new friend that stays with him during the day named E.J. and things seem to be going ok with that. Here is a picture of the little turkey from last Sunday.

Vacation

Now that Panache Mommy is off the ground, I can finally return to the blog for an update. We just got back from our first family vacation with Cooper. we went down to Galveston for a few days. We had a great time and it was very relaxing. Cooper got to do many firsts on this trip...

He rode the ferry.

He got to go to the beach - and play in the waves and fly a kite.

He went to the aquarium where he saw "whish" and turtles and penguins and he was in awe...

I was a good trip, but we had to come back and now we are back to everyday life!

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to Cooper's wonderful daddy! We spent time with his daddy, PawPaw and Grandpa on Father's Day. He wouldn't quite cooperate for the pictures with his daddy....

Happy Father's Day...we love all of you!

Growing and Growing

We are growing and growing all the time! Cooper had his 15 month check up last week. He was 23 lbs. 11 oz. and was 30 1/2 inches tall. He is in the 25th percentile for his height and 50th percentile for his weight - we know where he gets both of those from! I try to avoid giving him too many sweets, but he found a new love this week....Oreos (OROs as he calls them)! Can't fault him for that. Check out this little guy eating and saying ORO!
He got his first black eye over the labor day weekend. He tripped in the study and fell into an open drawer. I was right there and couldn't catch him - it killed me! He is too tough though, just a few minutes of crying and he was good to go! It is healing up now, but you can still kind of see it. It doesn't look that bad in this picture.
We have been busy. I am working diligently on my new venture and it seems like we have something going on every weekend. Last weekend Cooper and I took a quick overnight trip to Nacogdoches to visit the Selfs and new baby Jake.
Here is the cute little turkey in his swimming gear the last time we went to the lake.

May flying by!

I can't believe May is already more than half way gone!!! Cooper has been up to more of the same things....talking up a storm and going non stop. What are some of our new words...?...

nigh nigh (night night)
baball (baseball)
naty (nasty)
mi mou (mickey mouse)
brabra (zebra)
eat! (his momma's favorite word)

He repeats just about anything! There is always something new coming out.

We went to Kemah for a few weeks ago and Cooper got to ride a carousel and a small ferris wheel. I think he preferred the carousel, but he wasn't scared at all. I think I was more scared than he was!

We had a good mother's day and spent some time at Aunt Nickie/Uncle Shane's pool.

We got some really cute pictures of Cooper and cousin Noah!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everybody! We had a great Easter weekend (so sad we have to go back to work tomorrow)! We started out Friday with a relaxing day. We spent some time at Deanie & Grandpa's and Cooper got to tromp around and play in the dirt in their back yard (soon to be concrete). On Saturday we went to Claiborne Park where the church had a playday/Easter egg hunt. Cooper had a ball! His favorite thing was playing with the bubbles! All we heard was "bubbles...bubbles...bubbles"! He really loved the bubbles, but he really wanted to get a hold of the bubble machine too!

He played for a while and then they had the egg hunt. He did a good job of picking up the eggs and putting them in the basket.
After it was over, we left to go have lunch. We were less than a mile down the road, and this is what happened....

It is tiring to have so much fun!

Saturday night we dyed eggs for the Easter bunny. If we would have let him, he would have had egg dye from one end of that kitchen to the other!

We got up Sunday morning and he got his Easter basket and hunted eggs inside the house. By then, he was a pro at it! We went to church and then went over to his NayNay & PawPaw's for lunch. Deanie & Grandpa came over too! We had a great day!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

This is a great verse that is in Cooper's Easter book that we have been reading every night...Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die." John 11:25-26

Welcome Noah!!!

Cooper's new baby cousin, Noah James Landrith was born on Wednesday, April 1. He came in in a hurry and with a bang, but he is beautiful and we are glad he is here. He weight 6 lbs. 2 oz. and was 18 3/4 inches. Congratulations Aunt Stacey and Uncle Jim! We love yall!
Cooper and I left early Wednesday morning and headed over to Houston to get to see the new baby. We came back on Thursday afternoon. "Uncle" Jeremy has gotten to talk to Noah on the webcam. That is the coolest thing!
Cooper is doing good. He is playing and walking and talking and socializing all the time! Just this week he has gotten really good at saying Bye Bye! He has also made great strides with saying "Momma!"

Back!

I'm back! I get behind on stuff and I don't have time to update the blog. Quick recap...Cooper turned one year old and he had a great birthday party. It was a really fun day! He got a jumpolene as his birthday present and he loves it. He especially loves the "balls!" (which he says all the time!).
He stayed the following weekend with his NayNay and PawPaw for the first time while Jeremy and I went for an overnight mini-vacation. The next weekend we had the baby showers at our house for soon be here cousin Noah! As always, Cooper loved to socialize.
Last weekend we went up to the lake and met the Selfs up there. Ty and Cooper got to play by the water. He was filthy, but he had fun.
On March 19, Cooper's other cousin, baby Ella Ashley Hommel was born. She is precious - I got to hold her last night! We pray that cousin Heather will get well and will be back home with Ella ASAP!
The doctor is saying that baby Noah will be here soon! We can't wait to see him!
Cooper has been walking like crazy. He is starting to find faster speeds all the time. This past weekend he started to stand up without having to pull up on something. We go another tooth on the top that broke through the gums today, so that caused some sleeping problems last night. He is talking all the time and loves to try to repeat stuff...look out!!!!

Back to basics

I am having trouble with the blog working in internet explorer. I think it has to do with the new backgrounds I have been using. I am going to do some trial and error, so leave me some comments on how it is working for you or if you are having any problems viewing. I am just going to delete one thing at a time until I found out what the problem is!

Happy Birthday!

We can't believe Cooper is one year old today! What a difference a year makes.....This time last year I was stuck in a hospital bed as Jeremy and Cooper were headed off...and now he is as healthy as a horse! Those first few weeks he would fall asleep on my chest and his little feet would kick my incision (I didn't care)...and now he falls asleep on my chest and his little feet hang almost to my knees (I still don't care)! Jeremy and I worked so hard to capture those first smiles...and now that precious smile is there all the time! He had his colic and cried and cried and cried and cried and cried....and now he is as happy as he can be! It was a struggle to get him to take his bottle....and now he scarfs down almost any food (he definitely gets that from his momma)! He was so tiny (wearing premie clothes) and fragile...now he is big and walking and talking and getting into everything! We were waking up every 2-3 hours to tend to him...and now he sleeps through the night (most of the time).
It is amazing how fast the last year has flown by and how big he has gotten and how much has changed! I know it will continue to fly by! We love our beautiful 1 year old big boy!!!!
I am on vacation today to spend the day with Cooper for his birthday. We are going to go have a picnic for lunch and play outside a little bit! I will post some pictures a little later when I can get them loaded. His big birthday party is going to be on Saturday and we can't wait!

Talking...

We have started doing all kinds of new stuff lately - and trying to talk is at the top of the list! Starting yesterday afternoon, Cooper can now say "bottle." It just came out plain as day. I was shocked. Tonight he said "diaper"! We practice his "your baby can read" flashcards all the time and he is learning so much.
I can't believe what all he is doing! It is going to be so much fun watching him learn and say and do so much from here on. Only 9 more days until we have a 1 year old!

Hello Again!

I promise I haven't abandoned the blog. It seems like there have been a million things going on since Christmas that have taken priority over me posting on the blog.
Let's just jump to what is going on...today was a big day. Cooper got his first real haircut by a professional. We went to the same place that Jeremy gets his haircut and we cut his hair a lot shorter. We were just getting tired of constantly trying to tame that stuff! He did really good - he didn't cry at all. He was mostly just interested in what she was doing. He looks so cute. My little baby is turning into a little boy!

We also went to the mardi gras festivities in Orange today. Cooper got to ride a miniature horse and he also got to ride a big slide with his daddy. He had fun. It didn't scare him at all. We might be in for a handful on that!

The only other new development is that his top left tooth barely broke through the gums today. You have to rub it just right to feel it, but it is there! There are some more on the top that look like they are about to come throught, but who knows. I believe we might just get more teeth after all. I hope it isn't another 5-6 months before we get anymore!
Notice my new background in honor of Cooper's upcoming 1st birthday! It is a little bit much, so I probably won't leave it on there very long!
